You may feel that you need to talk to me face-to-face before deciding to commission a Wordportrait. In these circumstances I charge 50 euros plus agreed expenses for a preliminary meeting if I have to travel more than 50 kilometres from Girona. If the project goes ahead, I will deduct the 50-euro charge for the preliminary meeting from the final bill.  

Writing the first draft of a Wordportrait is preceded by 12 hours of taped interviews, which normally consist of 4 x 3-hour sessions over two consecutive days. I will travel up to 50 kilometres for these interviews free of charge, and over that distance on an agreed expenses basis. Interviews typically take place in the client’s home, but if you want to make alternative arrangements – e.g. a hotel room or similar – these will be at your expense. 

Second and subsequent manuscript copies (photocopied) of a Wordportrait are 20 euros per copy 

Your Wordportrait can be published in any of a number of book designs, hardback or paperback, with or without photographs, in any sized print run, according to your instructions. The cost of this service varies according to the overall design and detailed specification you choose. The first and any subsequent update of your Wordportrait costs 540 euros. An update consists of an additional chapter or chapters of up to 4000 words plus a maximum of six additional photos at the end of your original Wordportrait, based on a further three-hour interview plus any other written or photographic material you supply. The fee includes a single copy of your Wordportrait in the original book design of your choice, plus an option to purchase additional copies at an agreed price. Please note that this fee does not include travel expenses for journies of over 50 km from Girona. An update involving a more extensive revision of your original Wordportrait would be subject to negotiation.

Terms covering the production of a Wordportrait manuscript up to and including delivery of the final draft are written into a standard contract which is signed by both parties before work on the Wordportrait begins. To view a copy of a standard contract, click here.
